Boys From The South Win 2016 State Doubles Snooker
/The 2016 NSW State Doubles were again held at Club Marconi. Club Marconi is one of our major venues for snooker and the snooker club contribute more than a lot to our sport, particularly Jim Ruisi and Vic Sacco, their ongoing support is extremely valuable.
If you like a game of snooker good food and great company. Club Marconi is the place. There were some great combinations and a lot of results could have gone either way.
Congratulations to Rod Hart & Tyson Crinis defeating Glen Wilkinson & Jom Wangta 3-1, to win their first state doubles title. Tyson had a very well constructed 110 break in the second frame of the final to go 2-0 up and could have been 3-0 with Rod missing the Black to force a respot. Tyson and Rod both played well throughout the day and came through some close games to make the final. Tournament favourites Glen & Jom played extremely well on route to the final, but a couple of uncharacteristic errors cost them, they nearly got back into contention in the final but Rod & Tyson weren’t to be denied. The Final as well as other games can be viewed on https://www.facebook.com/Billiards-Snooker-VideosNSW-176235526132639/?fref=nf&pnref=story, many thanks to Neville Moore to record these games and many others.
All games were played over the one day, and in a great spirit and comradery, and thank you to all teams that entered. The players refereed their own games in the first round. Many thanks to Neville Moore, Stuart Tait, Nick Moura & Gareth King to referee from the Quarter Finals onwards, and of course to Frank Galanos to organise the attending refs and for his ongoing training of new refs. And of course again to Stuart Tait assistant Tournament Director who is an invaluable Asset to our Game and I couldn’t have the luxury of playing without his help. Thank you Stuart. Wishing everyone a Merry Xmas & a Happy New Year.
Enjoy your snooker
