Interested in becoming a Referee?
Of the millions who participate in Snooker and Billiards across the globe there are of course only a select few who can make the grade and become a professional player. For some, the next best thing however is to become a referee – placing them at the heart of the action and in the best position in the room to closely observe how the better players go about their craft.
Qualified Referees are an integral part of both Billiards and Snooker. Their role is crucial at both professional and amateur level and the WPBSA is currently working to provide a clear pathway for those with the talent and the enthusiasm required to be able to pick up the white gloves and progress to the very top of our sport.
Referees provide an extremely valuable contribution to our sport by way of their commitment, dedication, and professionalism whether officiating at local Club Championships or at State, National and International level. But no matter what the level of competition, refereeing will always prove to be a rewarding, satisfying, and enjoyable experience.
Qualified Referees are required to always remain full financial members of their respective State Snooker & Billiards Association. Snooker & Billiards NSW acknowledges the important role of the referee by providing a free concessional membership fee ($0). However, full membership is required for NSW Referees who also wish to play in official tournaments or be elected or appointed to any position with Snooker & Billiards NSW.
Expressions from anyone (male and female) interested in becoming a Qualified Referee will be most welcome, with new officials to support and facilitate our sport being constantly sought. Simply complete the form below as the first step to joining this important part of our sport and becoming an active participant. Our State Director of Referees will then be in contact with you.
