Terry Jenner Wins 2015 NSW Minor Snooker
/The minors were on again at Toukley RSL on the central coast, a great location for a weekend away and a game of snooker. The club is very comfortable and friendly and of course has excellent facilities. The 6 tables were in excellent condition and were brushed and ironed at the start of each days play. The new 1G balls were sparkling clean courtesy of the Tournament Director who again did a wonderful job. 56 players mostly from Sydney entered the competition, there were more local players entered this year particularly from the Newcastle area, courtesy of a qualifying tournament held by the Newcastle association.
Timothy Ng and Terry Jenner were the finalists. Both players making the final for the first time. Terry Defeated Tim 4-3 with Tim making a great comeback from 3-1 behind.
Tim was cruising in his first game 2-0 up to Steve Miller only for Steve to come back and push Tim all the way. Then a extremely close battle against Chris Todd in the last 16, Chris missed the black to beat tim 3-1. Tim played some great snooker with breaks of 75 & 89. Tim defeated Nick Waymouth in the semi final, Nick had a great tournament.
Terry was playing solid snooker as always and also had some tough games, against Chris Baker in the last 16 with the game going down to the wire, Chris had a break of 63. And in the semi finals against Ying Jin, Terry came back from the brink of defeat, with Jin missing match ball on what seemed like a relatively easy pink to win 3-1.
Overall it was a great tournament and all games were played in great spirit, thank you to all the players for supporting the event, especially the referees and assistant tournament director Stuart Tait.
Thanks again to Toukley Rsl and Joy Perkins.
Until next time enjoy your snooker.
