South Pacific Riddles

The 2014 South Pacific Snooker Championship was held at Club Marconi on the 13th and 14th of September this month. Congratulations to Adrian Ridley from Victoria for winning the prestigious event over Kurt Dunham (also Victorian) with a close final being 4-3.

There was some very high quality snooker over the weekend including a fantastic high break of 108 by Gary Mares from NSW. One of the great efforts came from Nathan White (NSW) in making his very first national ranking semi final. Also well done to the consistent performer Hassan Kerde in making the other semi final and only narrowly being defeated by the eventual winner.

Special thanks to those that helped over the weekend and leading up to the event. Especially to my side kick Stuart Tait and Frank Galanos. Thank you also to all the referees and club members who helped out including Jim Ruisi from Marconi. The raffle was also very successful and thanks again to those who supplied product and to players and spectators who purchased tickets. It was an important component of the event which ensured we were able to guarantee the minimum prize money of $8,000.

See you all next year!
