Snooker & Billiards NSW Announces Accessible Play: Open Day for People Living with Disability
/Snooker & Billiards NSW is proud to launch its first-ever Accessible Play – Snooker & Billiards Open Day for People Living with Disability, taking place on Saturday 10 May 2025 at Seven Hills-Toongabbie RSL, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
The event is designed for people of all ages and abilities, offering a safe, welcoming space to explore or reconnect with snooker and billiards. Whether living with a physical, sensory, intellectual, or psychosocial disability — or managing the long-term effects of stroke, head injury, or other health conditions — this open day is for everyone.
This free, inclusive event welcomes people with disability, along with carers, support workers, friends, and family members, for a day of fun, connection, and cue sports. Whether you’re completely new to the game or looking to get back into it, the day is relaxed, supportive, and designed with accessibility in mind.
“Our aim is to create a day that’s fun, inclusive, and empowering,” said Jodie Wikeepa, SBNSW Director and Sub-Committee Lead for Inclusion and Accessibility. “We want participants to feel supported, encouraged, and part of a broader community.”
Participants will enjoy:
• Hands-on coaching and basic tips from experienced players
• Mini-games and social play, with activities for all levels
• Guest speakers with lived experience, sharing how cue sports have impacted their lives
• A welcoming, friendly environment with opportunities to meet others and have fun
No experience is required, and all equipment is provided. Light refreshments will be available throughout the day.
The event will also help SBNSW gather valuable insights into how to better support players with disability moving forward. Feedback collected via a short on-the-day questionnaire will help shape future programs around coaching, venue accessibility, equipment, and referee education.
With one in five Australians living with disability, events like this are an important step toward building inclusive sporting communities where everyone feels welcome.
We’re also calling on our community to get behind this initiative:
Know someone with a disability who might enjoy the game? Bring them along and help us introduce them to cue sports.
Interested in volunteering or mentoring? We’d love to have you involved at this event, or in the future.
Are you a club interested in supporting inclusive snooker and billiards? Come along, see what it’s all about, and find out how you can get involved.
