Lightning Billiards 2020 - Save the Dates

We have just updated and expanded our Lightning Billiards mail list so we will take this opportunity to remind you of dates for 2020.

Lightning Billiards is always on a Sunday and always at Hornsby RSL Club commencing from 9.30 a.m. It is a quick fire race to 150 points with handicaps applied at the beginning. Some players will only need to make 30 points to win while our State Champions might need to make 180.

Anyone can win, we have never had the same winner twice.

All players are welcome regardless of age ( we have had as low as 9 yo and as high as 85), regardless of sex, club or association membership and ability. WE LOVE BEGINNERS. We are all on the path to being great billiards players, those further along the path are happy to help those starting the journey. 

If you are not sure of the rules and strategies or would like to learn the basics of the game with a view to entering please contact Peter or Andy who can help you get started and offer free coaching outside of competition days.

Lightning Billiards was set up to develop skills and to expose players to the short form of the sport, especially Snooker players who are used to a shorter format match.

There is free coaching from either a Senior player or our resident WPBSA coaches from 9.30 a.m. where we focus on the stokes of the game and regular playing patterns.

We are all finished in a day and everyone is guaranteed at least 3 matches. Dress is casual and the style of the day is relaxed and fun.

Cost is $30 ( includes $10 lunch voucher + Free coaching) and we give away much more than the entry fees each round, in cash and prizes.

In the last 6 years we have been very successful in attracting new players. Our proudest boast is that we have had at least one new entrant in every round of the competition four times a year for seven years. We have unearthed some great new players who have gone on to bigger things in state , national and international competition.

What we would like to see now is some support from the leading A Grade players in Sydney. It is a great inspiration to our developing players to be on the table against our NSW Major and Minor champions. Come on A graders, time to give something back to the sport.
