Double Trouble at Hornsby RSL
/On Saturday 1st December the NSW State Doubles Snooker Championship was hosted at Hornsby RSL for the first time. The event was made of 14 teams and was played over the one day with all matches being best of 5 frames.
The Championship was won by Shawn Budd and Alex Render who defeated Joe Minici and Ray Hanna 3-2 in the final. Joe and Ray played steady all day and came very close to taking out the title 2 years in a row. Full results can be accessed via the link below.
The first semi final was between Minici / Hanna and Paul Balzer / Dave Waller. It was a close match that went the distance. The other semi final between Budd / Render and Ali Ganji / Hassan Kerde was also very close and came down to a final black ball game.
Thank you to all the players and spectators that supported this event. The NSW Doubles Snooker was created 6 years ago and is always played towards the end of the year when the Snooker season is less hectic. It is a fun event and has been supported well by all.
Thank you also to Harry Anderson, Andy de Haan and Hornsby RSL for your support of the event. You have a fantastic Snooker room that you should all be proud of. We hope to see your support again in 2013.
On behalf of the BSA NSW we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
Regards
